Tlecuil 19

From the Nahuatl "Tlecuil", stove. Brazier formed by three stones called tenamastes, which serve as a base to place griddles, pots, vessels or racks to cook food, which are placed on the ground in a triangular formation so that firewood, ocote or wood can be accommodated in the spaces between them, to light the fire. At present there may be more than three stones in the tlecuil. It has been used since pre-hispanic times as the equivalent of the current stove or bonfire.
